UPDATE (March 19th, 2020):
The Mi 10 India launch is now officially confirmed for March 31st. It will be an online-only event which will be live-streamed on YouTube starting 12:30 PM IST. Xiaomi has further revealed that the flagship smartphone will go on pre-orders the same day from 3 PM IST.
It will be Xiaomi's first flagship smartphone release in India since Mi 5 in 2016. It has failed to get the same level of attention from fans in the premium segment as it gets in budget and mid-range segments. It will be hoping for at least some improvement this time around.

Xiaomi has officially started teasing Mi 10 India launch on its social media accounts. It is posting teaser tweets with the hashtag '108MPIsHere' which is a reference to the 108-megapixel primary sensor on the smartphone. Even the Twitter account name has been renamed from Mi India to Mi India #108MPIsHere as part of the marketing campaign.
Manu Kumar Jain, Managing Director of Xiaomi India, has tweeted referring to these changes and has asked fans whether they noticed the change. He described the move as "just a small step towards making a HUGE announcement". This is in line with the Mi India account bio that reads, "A BIG news is coming very soon. Stay tuned".
Mi fans, we've worked very hard to bring this #108MP flagship experience to India.— Manu Kumar Jain (@manukumarjain) March 18, 2020
However, I want to add that we may have a different pricing model for this flagship due to (a) direct import (b) higher GST (c) depreciating ₹. Will keep everyone posted.#Xiaomi ❤️ #108MPIsHere https://t.co/HkMRftpyuz
In a separate tweet, Manu has made it clear that Mi 10 will launch at a higher price in India. This is because Xiaomi will have to import Mi 10 units directly from China instead of making them locally. The other two reasons are increased GST on smartphones and depreciation of Indian Rupee.
There is no information about the launch date yet but since Mi 10 global launch is set for March 27th, we can expect the Indian launch to happen on the same day as well. But thanks to an Amazon India tweet, we do know that it will be the online partner for the sale of the smartphone as and when it is launched.
Lastly, a well-known Indian tipster Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) has tweeted that Xiaomi will launch only the standard Mi 10 in India. The reason behind no Mi 10 Pro Indian launch is expected to be the expensive pricing. The two devices offer identical specifications except for some changes to the camera sensors.
Only the Mi 10 vanilla will launch. And I'm talking about Indian launch.— Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) March 18, 2020
