Redmi Note 9 Pro Max India release delayed due to Coronavirus lockdowns

24 March 2020 0

It has been a couple of weeks since Redmi introduced Redmi Note 9 series in India. While the Redmi Note 9 Pro has already gone on sale last week, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max was scheduled to get its first sale on March 25th i.e. tomorrow. If you were eagerly waiting for the day to arrive, you will need to wait longer. This is because Redmi Note 9 Pro Max's Indian sale has been postponed for the time being.

In an official tweet, Redmi India mentioned that the decision to delay the first Redmi Note 9 Pro Max sale was taken due to current Coronavirus lockdowns around the country. It said that the sale will happen at a "later date" which has not been revealed yet. It seems like the company will monitor the situation before deciding on a specific date.

The same tweet also clarified that Redmi Note 9 Pro's second flash sale will go on as per schedule. It means if you are interested in buying the phone, you better be online at Amazon India or Mi.com at 12 PM IST today. However, we would not be surprised if the company decides to delay future sales of this particular variant as well.

Redmi is not the only smartphone brand facing the consequences of the Coronavirus outbreak. Many of the tech brands including Xiaomi and Redmi have already switched to online-only launch events to avoid mass gatherings. A recent report revealed that Samsung, Oppo, LG, and Vivo have even shut down their respective phone assembling and manufacturing units in India.
