Xiaomi at an online event launched the Redmi Note 9S, which is actually the global variant of the already announced Redmi Note 9 Pro. So, all the specifications, features, and even the design are the same and only the name differs.
The Redmi Note 9S features a 6.67-inch IPS LCD panel with 1080x2400 pixels (20:9 aspect ratio). It supports HDR10 and complies with TUV Rheinland’s standards for blue light emissions. The phone has a hole-punch situated on the top-center of the display housing the selfie camera. On the back, the Note 9S carries the same quad-camera setup, arranged in 2x2 format and housed inside a rectangular module. The primary sensor includes a 48MP lens with f/1.8 aperture, 8MP ultrawide unit with f/2.2 aperture, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth-sensing camera for better portraits.
The front camera is 16MP with f/2.5 aperture and it can record 120fps slow-motion videos. It comes with a 5,020mAh battery with 18W charging support, but Xiaomi has offered a 22.5W-capable charger in the box.
The Note 9S is powered by Snapdragon 720G and coupled with either 4GB RAM or 6GB RAM while the storage options are 64GB and 128GB, and they can be further expanded using a microSD card.
The Redmi Note 9S has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm audio jack, and IR blaster.
The Redmi Note 9S will go for sale in Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore starting April 7. It comes in Aurora Blue, Glacier White, and Interstellar Grey color options. The price of the Redmi Note 9S in Malaysia is MYR799 (€165) for the 4GB/64GB configuration. The 6GB/128GB configuration is priced at MYR899 (€190). In Thailand, the device is priced at THB 6,499 and THB 7,999, and in Singapore, the phone costs SGD 299 and SGD 349 respectively. AliExpress shoppers can grab the phone starting April 7 for $249 and have it shipped to where they live.
Together with the Redmi Note 9S, a special Limited Edition was also announced, it is the MFF 2020 Limited Edition of the Redmi Note 9S. This special edition has especially been crafted to celebrate the 10th-anniversary of Xiaomi on April 6th, 2020.
The MFF stands for Mi Fan Family and Xiaomi is making available only 2,020 limited edition devices to the users. The Redmi Note 9S MFF 2020 got the same design as the standard version, though with one little difference. The back also shows a silhouette of the famous mascot MITU and the inscription “2020 MFF.”
