Opera has launched the Opera News Lite, a lighter version of its popular News app that it launched two years back. Opera says the new app is specifically developed for devices with limited data storage capabilities and slow networks.
Just like the standard app, the Opera News Lite aims to offer you tailored-made news timely but with a lesser load on the data speed and storage. The app uses AI to bring personalized yet diversified news. You just have to follow your favorite channels to see topics personalized just for you. The more you use the app, the better it becomes. It also gives briefing updates that include a mix of the most important headlines, local news, and the latest development on the topics you’re interested in. Also, push notifications will keep you updated and engaged so that you don’t miss news on your selected topic.
Opera News Lite app is already available for download from the Google Play Store in more than 40 countries. It has a download size of less than 1MB, thus it takes up less space on your phone and is also responsive on slow networks.
The Opera News Lite app is available in these countries - Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Egypt, Algeria, Tanzania, Senegal, Zambia, Guinée, Morocco, Congo, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Benin, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Etiopia, Libya, Angola, Tunisia, Mali, Niger, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Malawi, Rwanda, Burundi, Tchad, Madagascar, Togo, Gabon, Sudan, Somalia, Mauritania, India, Indonesia, Russia, and United States.
Opera has also made a mention that those who live in Kenya, Nigeria, or nearby countries will be able to browse four times faster on the app as it has recently installed local data centers in cities of Lagos and Mombasa.
