After a gap of about two years, Google has finally released Podcasts application for iOS devices. It comes with a completely new design that is also being rolled out to Android devices. The only difference is that only select Android users have received the redesign but should be available for everyone in the coming week.
The new design offers three main tabs to help users navigate around the app. These tabs are called Home, Search, and Activity which also offer a neat categorization of content. The first tab is like the feed of a social network where users will a list of all the subscribed podcasts. It will also show all the new episodes in reverse chronological order.
The Search tab works exactly the way its name suggests. It helps users discover new podcasts which can be searched either using keywords or by browsing categories. It further offers podcast recommendations which are based on one's listening habits and taste.
The last tab is meant for account management and checking user activity. It will show your current queue, downloaded podcasts, and the history of podcasts that you have listened to. It is also the place for managing one's subscriptions to various podcasts and unsubscribe from unwanted ones.
