Opera Android update brings data saving mode, Speed Dial improvements

30 March 2020 0

Opera for Android is now receiving a new app update that brings improvements to a few of the existing features. The update does not bring anything new but it does make already available features more useful. It is simply an update aimed at improving the user experience and app's functionality. These improvements are related to data saving mode, offline pages, and Speed Dial.

Starting with Data Saving Mode, Opera is said to have added a new badge in the address bar that serves two purposes. The first purpose is to show how much data a user has saved. It is present on the left side and can be tapped for having a quick glance at the amount of data saved. The second purpose is to act as a quick toggle for enabling and disabling the data saving mode. It will eliminate the need for visiting app settings every time someone wants to switch the state.

The offline pages feature has been tweaked to support all websites and web pages on the internet. It means no matter what website or web page you are on, you can easily save it offline for reading it later. Opera has further made it possible for users to choose whether to store offline pages on the device's internal storage or microSD card storage.

Lastly, Opera's Speed Dial functionality has been integrated with the address bar search. It means a user can access any of the Speed Dial websites by simply typing its name in the address bar. The app will auto-complete the search query as it will be typed to show matching Speed Dial websites. This will make the whole process faster than it is now.

The latest Opera for Android update is available through the Google Play Store. If you have not installed it already, simply visit the Play Store and tap the Update button to get started.
