UPDATE (April 6th, 2020):
A new iPhone 9 listing has been spotted on JD.com, a Chinese online shopping website. The listing is more like a placeholder as it does not offer many details about the budget iPhone. It only mentions the product name, lack of 5G connectivity, and usage of the Lightning connector. It does not offer any release timeline either but since the listing has been made live, we can expect the launch to be closer than ever.

Apple's next-gen affordable iPhone i.e. iPhone 9 or iPhone SE 2 has been the talk of the down for quite a long time. It was rumored to become official sometime in April but recent reports suggested a delay in launch due to the ongoing Coronavirus epidemic. Now, a fresh round of reports has emerged claiming that Apple is now ready to release the smartphone in the month of April.
The first leak has been shared by a YouTuber Jon Prosser who has tweeted that iPhone 9 will be launched on April 15th. The pre-bookings will begin soon after followed by shipments from April 22nd. He said that the dates were finalized in an internal meeting held yesterday but are still subject to change due to the current epidemic situation.

The second bit of information is coming from 9to5Mac that has reported the arrival of the iPhone 9 cases in stores. It specifically mentions Best Buy as one of the stores to have received the stock. The most interesting part is that stores have been told not to put these cases on the shelf until the end of the next week. This particular case (image below) is from Urban Armor Gear and is said to be referred to as “New iPhone 4.7-inch, 2020".
For the uninitiated ones, the iPhone 9 or iPhone SE 2 is a rumored device that is said to be an iPhone SE successor. It will be released with the same philosophy as the first-generation of the device. In other words, it will offer better hardware and features at relatively cheaper pricing. It will have a design inspired by iPhone 8 and will be aimed at those users who are still using an iPhone 6 or iPhone 7 or anyone who wants to get hands-on a new iPhone model without spending a premium.
