Looks like we have some last-minute leaks of the OnePlus 8 series to welcome, however, the latest one is not actually a leak. GSMArena got tipped off about the listing of the phones on the UK retailing site and hence the pricing.
UK retailer John Lewis listed the phones in Onyx Black or Glacial Green options hours before the official unveiling of the two phones. According to the listing, the OnePlus 8 with 8GB RAM 128GB storage model costs £599, while the OnePlus 8 Pro with the same storage configuration is priced at £799. The higher model of the OnePlus 8 with configuration 12GB RAM and 256GB model costs £699 and the OnePlus 8 Pro costs £899.
Interestingly, the phones are still listed on the site and you can take a look at it.

OnePlus has been throwing away some key and interesting features of its upcoming OnePlus 8 series ahead of the April 14 launch. Recently, it revealed the OnePlus 8 series is going to have Snapdragon 865 processor, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.0 storage. Previously, it had talked about the 120Hz refresh rate and the importance of having MEMC technology enabled on a smartphone.
OnePlus is clearly on a splurging mode and following the same, it has now revealed the pricing of the OnePlus 8 series. Well, the company hasn’t made official the exact price tags of its upcoming phones but it did give a hint on the same. In an exclusive interview with Business Insider, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau revealed that the price tags of the OnePlus 8 phones with 5G connectivity aren’t going to exceed $1,000 in the US.
For comparison, the price of the Galaxy S20 5G phone starts at $999.99 and the highest one costs $1,399.99. When OnePlus is claiming its next flagship series to be under $1,000, we believe the statement holds true for every storage variant and it is just not meant for the base variant, because if it is, then it should get ready for some real disappointments. Also, LG V60 5G smartphone is among the cheaper 5G phones, so far starting around $900. But we can’t tell whether the OnePlus 8 series will be cheaper than LG’s recently released 5G phone.
OnePlus is going all extravagant about the upcoming series and in its yet another fresh revelation, the company has shared the list of apps that are compatible with OnePlus 8’s frame-boosting chip.
If you’ve seen high-quality TVs, you’re no stranger to MEMC. We’ve created a custom MEMC chip that can push ordinary 30fps video up to 120, so any video gets the full advantage of our 120Hz Fluid Display. pic.twitter.com/YPD3fw5uOn— Pete Lau (@PeteLau) January 16, 2020
Back in January, OnePlus confirmed that the MEMC chip will come to the OnePlus 8 series so that any video content can take full advantage of OnePlus’ 120Hz display. The new dedicated MEMC chip or the frame-boosting chip fills in the gaps between existing frames by creating new frames, thus making all video content on OnePlus devices significantly smoother.
Now, the company has shared the supported apps and content on Weibo. The list includes –
- Amazon Prime Video
- MX Player
- OnePlus Gallery app
- Tencent Video
There are also a few supported games included but they are largely focused on the Chinese market.
