Apple’s long-rumored and highly-anticipated entry-level iPhone is said to be launching sooner than you might have expected. According to a new report from 9to5Mac which is citing its “highly trusted reader,” states that the affordable iPhone which we have been addressing iPhone SE 2/iPhone 9 may launch on April 3. It even claims that Apple may start taking orders on the same day.
However, there is a twist, the name of this most speculated iPhone is not iPhone SE 2 nor it is going to be the iPhone 9. Well, referring to what is reported and spotted on the company’s official store, it is concluded that the successor will simply be called iPhone SE again (maybe followed by year name to distinguish it from the predecessor).
Based on the new information 9to5Mac has learned, Apple will simply call the new entry-level model “iPhone SE” while referencing the new hardware as the 2020 version.
Also, a Belkin screen protector available on the Apple Store further corroborates what is reported by 9to5Mac. The screen protector is listed for the iPhone SE as well as the iPhone 8 and iPhone 7 as well. This alludes that whatever the previous reports had claimed is actually true. Apple iPhone SE had a 4-inch display and the yet-to-come successor reportedly has a 4.7-inch display, matching the iPhone 8 as suggested by many rumors before. So, the listing is actually referring to the new entry-level iPhone and according to the listing, it will be known by the name iPhone SE yet again.
The tech site 9to5Mac adds more details that somewhat complete the whole report on the upcoming iPhone SE. The new affordable iPhone is going to come in white, black, and red color options with storage tiers of 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. Also, the device is expected to come powered by the Apple A13 processor. But the pricing is unknown for now. For comparison, the iPhone SE that came out in March 2016 had a price tag of $399 and came with 2015’ iPhone 6S specs and iPhone 5 appearance.
The site also claims there will be five iPhone SE cases available in silicone and leather stuff. So let’s just wait for April 3 to see if the report is genuine.
