Xiaomi is said to be working on its 144MP phone that may debut on its Mi CC series. The tip is given by Sudhanshu Ambhore on Twitter but the specifics are unknown. The tipster, however, has made a guess on the availability of the 144MP, which according to him could be the Mi CC10 Pro or Mi 10S Pro.

I guess it should be Mi 10S Pro or Mi CC10 Pro
The 144MP sensor may come from Samsung as supposedly, it is the only company that is working on this sensor based on the 14nm process. Back in December 2019, another tipster by the name Ice Universe tipped that Samsung is planning to use a 14nm process to make a 144MP sensor but later we heard no plans on the same. In fact, we are hearing some other plans on which Samsung might be working.
Last month, a rumor arrived that claimed Samsung is working on a 150MP camera sensor and it will use the same Nonacell tech, which means 9 to 1 pixel binning for brighter images. So far, Samsung has used 108MP as the biggest megapixel ever and the most recent variant that uses Nonacell tech was employed in the Galaxy S20 Ultra as well and we all know how brilliant the camera quality is.
Interestingly, the 144MP is also tipped to use the 9:1 pixel binning technology for crispier shots even in low light.
It is unknown if Xiaomi aims to become the first to use this upcoming sensor as there is nothing to conclude yet. But in the past, Xiaomi had managed to take the lead in first of the first race. It was the first company to launch a smartphone with a 48MP camera, then became the first with a 64MP sensor as well and later very efficiently made use of 108MP from Samsung in its Mi Note 10 as well.
Samsung’s rumored 144MP sensor is not official and we shouldn’t cite the old rumor right now. Let’s just wait to see where the plans of the companies go.
