After months of wait and tons of rumors, Apple has finally taken wraps off the new affordable iPhone named iPhone SE (2020). The name makes it clear that it is a direct successor to the original iPhone SE from years ago. It follows the same philosophy of offering better hardware and software experience for relatively low money.
The all-new iPhone SE (2020) sports a 4.7-inch Retina HD display with True Tone which makes it a compact-size smartphone. It has design resemblance with iPhone 8 which means you will see the thick top and bottom bezels along with Touch ID. Under the hood, it features the Apple A13 Bionic chipset which is the same one Apple used on the iPhone 11. It means you should not be seeing any compromises when it comes to performance. The storage options include 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.
Apple has opted for a single 12-megapixel wide-angle shooter on the back and a 7-megapixel shooter on the front. The selfie camera also has Retina flash to help users with low-light selfies. You will get Portrait mode support on both the cameras along with all the lighting effects that Apple has been offering recently.
There is a 1,821mAh battery to keep the show going on. It is supported by up to 18W fast charging and wireless charging but you will need to get those chargers separately. The iPhone SE (2020) will run the latest iOS version out of the box which is not surprising as it is an Apple product. There is an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance but it does not feature a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The best thing about iPhone SE (2020) is definitely the pricing as it will cost you only $399 for the base model. The budget iPhone has been announced in Black, Red, and White color options. It will go on pre-orders starting this Friday with sales starting April 24th. And yes, you will get a free Apple TV subscription for one year with the purchase.
