Update: July 7, 2020
Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 5G has crossed the 3C certification in China and while there is not much to learn from its listing, the only apparent aspect to note is 25W charging support. The model number is SM-F9160 and the supporting documents reveal that the foldable smartphone from Samsung will come bundled with the EP-TA800 charger. The charger has a maximum power output of 9V and 2.27A or 11V and 2.25A, resulting in a total power output of 25W. This is the same charger that Samsung's other high-end and mid-range phones support.
UPDATE (June 10th, 2020):
A new report coming from South Korea has claimed that the Galaxy Fold 2 main display will have a 120Hz refresh rate. It further corroborates previously reported display sizes i.e. at least 7.5-inch (2213×1689 pixels) for the primary display and about 6.2-inch (2267×819 pixels) for the external display. The outer panel will have the standard 60Hz refresh rate.
Samsung is said to have decided to release 3 million Galaxy Fold 2 units. It has set a goal of manufacturing 300,000 units per month with product beginning next month.
Original (April 21st, 2020)
The Galaxy Fold is undoubtedly one of the best foldable smartphones that one can buy. It packs high-end specs and features that make the most of the bigger display and foldable mechanism to enhance the user experience. Samsung is widely rumored to be working on a successor that will further improve on the original's capabilities. It is time for a new leak that offers detailed specs information about the Galaxy Fold 2 displays.
The leak has been shared by Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), who tweeted specs related to external as well as internal display. The primary Galaxy Fold 2 display will be the one on the inside which will be accessible in the unfolded state. It is tipped to be 7.59-inches in size with 2213 x 1689 pixels resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. This will bring it at par with high refresh rate displays on traditional phones. It will be an OLED display panel featuring LTPO backplane technology and 372 DPI.
Samsung is already rumored to be considering using an ultra-thin glass (UTG) panel for the next foldable phone. The secondary display i.e. the one that will be on the outside is claimed to be bigger this time around. It is said to be a 6.23-inch display with 2267 x 819 pixels resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. It is only 4.6-inches on the Galaxy Fold which means it is a significant upgrade. It is further said to have a punch-hole and feature LTPS backplane technology.
Young wrapped up the leak by mentioning that the Galaxy Fold 2 will have S Pen stylus support like the Galaxy Note series. It will be helpful to those who prefer to use the Fold like a tablet. However, there are no words on whether the foldable will come with housing for the stylus.
