Xiaomi has announced a new event for April 27th in China where it will be making at least two announcements. The first one will be about MIUI 12 which will be the next iteration of one of the most widely used custom Android UIs. It will launch the Mi 10 Lite 5G Chinese variant alongside the main announcement.
MIUI 12 is a part of Xiaomi's tradition to release an annual upgrade for the custom skin. It will succeed current-gen MIUI 11 that can be found on all new Mi, Redmi, and Poco smartphones including different older devices as well. Xiaomi has mentioned MIUI 12 on different occasions but has not revealed any substantial information. However, a recent leak gave a glimpse of the design language change that the team is expected to be working on.
As for the Mi 10 Lite 5G, it is the same smartphone that Xiaomi introduced globally in Europe last month. It will be taking wraps off the variant meant for the Chinese market at next week's event. It is expected that the phone will be released under a new name i.e. Mi 10 Youth Edition which is a naming scheme that has been used in the past as well.
Even though Xiaomi is likely to make some tweaks to the software features and experience, the hardware specifications are expected to be unchanged. Here is a quick overview of what Chinese fans can expect from the phone:
- 6.57-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED TrueColor notched display
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor
