Disney+ app for iOS is receiving a new update that adds data saver mode. It is the mode that is available with most of the widely used streaming services and is one of the important features. It simply helps users save data while binge-watching their favorite TV shows or streaming any movie.
The data saver mode is specifically beneficial for those who stream content on a mobile internet connection. These connections usually come with a monthly cap which means users have to be careful about not reaching the limit before the end of the month. This is where this newly added mode comes into the picture as it helps users save data.
The mode works by adjusting the streaming quality of the content to standard definition. This way, Disney+ app will consume less data as compared to if the user was watching on High Definition or higher. Ideally, the mode is disabled by default and a user needs to enable it from the app settings. However, it is not clear if Disney+ is following the same approach.
Nevertheless, Disney+ data saver mode is currently available only for iOS devices i.e. iPhones and iPad. The update can be download and installed for free by visiting the App Store. We are expecting Android rollout to happen soon as well but there are no official words about that yet.
