Google Drive is one of the widely used cloud services around the globe. It is accessible via all the major platforms including Apple's iOS operating system. It is now receiving an update that makes using the application safer and more secure than before on iPhone and iPad devices.

As per recent reports, Google Drive for iOS now supports Face ID and Touch ID which should make the app more secure. It will essentially prevent unauthorized access to the app if the user happens to leave is device unlocked. The exact security support will depend on the Apple device you have. It means if the device has a fingerprint scanner, it will support Touch ID and if it has facial recognition, it will be compatible with Face ID.

To enable the newly added security feature, a user will need to visit the Privacy Screen setting within the Google Drive application. There will be a quick toggle which needs to be turned on by a simple tap. Depending on the device, the app will get protected by Face ID/Touch ID along with Passcode. It further allows users to create a "Delay" for the Privacy Screen to avoid using biometric authentication while switching between apps. A delay can be set for 10 seconds, 1 minute, or 10 minutes.

It is worth noting that the Privacy Screen will not protect notifications and files that have been shared with the Files app. Similarly, photos shared with the Photos app will continue to be accessible.
