Original (May 11th, 2020)

iQOO has officially announced that its next smartphone iQOO Z1 5G will be launched on May 19th. The name confirms that it will be a 5G capable smartphone. Even though we have seen various 5G phone releases so far, this new upcoming smartphone is different in terms of the processor choice. It is said to be the first-ever phone with MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus processor.

All 5G phones, mid-range and flagships, so far have arrived with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. It will be the first time we will see a 5G smartphone featuring a MediaTek processor. It should be noted that Dimensity 1000 Plus is a flagship chipset which means the phone will be a 5G smartphone. There are also rumors of it sporting a 144Hz display panel for a high refresh rate.

In a separate, leak, alleged iQOO Z1 has surfaced in a couple of real-life leaked images. These images show a smartphone with a bezel-less but punch-hole display. It is shown with settings interface where a user can choose from 60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz, and 144Hz refresh rate

This is pretty much it what is known about the iQOO Z1 5G. The launch event will take place next week which means we can still see more official teasers and leaks related to the phone. It should be noted that it will be a release only for China and it is expected to remain that way for at least a month.
