It is time for a new WhatsApp beta that adds support for profile QR codes. The feature has been available for iOS devices for quite some time and has now been expanded to cover Android devices. It is a server-side rollout but a user will need to have WhatsApp beta version 2.20.171 or higher get the feature.
The idea behind offering WhatsApp profile QR codes is to make it easier for users to share their phone numbers. The other person can get the phone number by simply scanning the QR code and start chatting on the instant messenger application. The feature can be accessed by visiting WhatsApp Settings and checking if there is a QR code icon next to your profile name.
Tapping on the icon will open a new window that will show your personal QR code. It will also show your profile name and phone number at the top of the code. It is simply a way for you to check whether the code contains the correct information that you would like to share. This code can be scanned using any QR code reader and can also be shared with others via social media networks, email, and other supported apps.
Lastly, WhatsApp allows users to reset their QR code anytime and as many times as they want. Resetting the code will prevent your number from getting shared further. It can also be helpful when you end up sharing the code with someone accidentally. It is a beta feature which means it will take some time before it arrives on the stable channel, We will keep you posted as and when it will happen.
