Apple's paid news and magazine subscription service News+ is set to receive a new Audio feature. It has been spotted within the Apple News app after iOS 13.5.5 beta update by 9to5Mac folks. It is available as a dedicated tab in the app and is fully functional as long as the user is a valid paid subscriber of the service.
Apple News+ Audio is a feature that will allow users to listen to news stories like podcasts. It can be helpful in various situations where a user does not have enough time to read but is okay with listening. Once an audio news story is played, the app shows an interface similar to what you get while listening to a podcast.
There are options to play/pause the story, skip to next, and rewind by 15 seconds. It has a time-seek bar if a user wants to jump forward as well as the ability to adjust the audio playback speed. A user can even create a playlist of audio news stories by adding them to a queue and re-order them as per the preference.
One unique feature is that the app makes it possible for users to read the story while also listening along at the same time. You can check out the Apple News+ Audio functionality in action in the video below.
