Google silently made available the Android 11 Beta to the eligible Pixel phones and soon after it, a few OEMs fed the update to their phones as well. OnePlus is also one such company that has released the Android 11 Beta under the Developer Preview program for its OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro phones.
Announcing the availability on its official forum, OnePlus also outlined the known issues that this update brings along.
- All data will be cleared while flashing the build
- Face unlock is unavailable
- Google Assistant ("OK Google") does not work
- Video calling does not work
- Certain UI screens look less than desirable
- Some apps may not function as expected
- System stability issues
OnePlus clarifies that this version of Android 11 is best suited for developers and other advanced users, as it is still in an early stage of development. OnePlus also warns that there is a risk of bricking your phone, so it is better to follow the instruction properly and always backup the important data. Also, the OnePlus 8 series on Verizon and T-Mobile are not compatible with the Developer Preview builds. Also, it is highly advisable that you are not cross-flashing this onto the OnePlus 6, OnePlus 6T, OnePlus 7, or OnePlus 7T series.
