UPDATE (July 16th, 2020):

As we are just one week away from the launch, Asus has started taking pre-orders for the ROG Phone 3. The upcoming gaming phone is listed on JD.com where interested buyers can book their respective units. It is set to be one of the first phones to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus processor.

UPDATE (July 2nd, 2020):

Asus has officially revealed that the next-gen ROG gaming smartphone will be unveiled on July 22nd. It will likely be called the ROG Phone 3 and will be a successor to last year's ROG Phone 2. The name of the launch event is "Game Changer" which is a clear indication towards the release of a gaming device. As we have seen with all other launch events this year, it will be an online-only event that will be streamed live.

UPDATE (June 23rd, 2020):

It seems like we are closer than ever to the Asus ROG Phone 3 launch. In a launch teaser shared on Weibo, the ROG Phone 3 launch is said to happen sometime in July i.e. next month. It further confirms that the partnership between Asus ROG and Tencent Mobiles will continue with the third-generation gaming smartphone as well. It means the Chinese market will receive a special Tencent edition of the smartphone like the last year.

UPDATE (June 19th, 2020):

The Asus ROG Phone 3 has surfaced in an alleged hands-on video leak. It shows the gaming smartphone from the front as well as back with a familiar design. The phone has a triple camera setup on the back along with an RGB lighting ROG logo. This is something that we have seen in previous-generation devices as well.

Original (June 16th, 2020)

Asus is working on its third-generation gaming smartphone that will likely be called the ROG Phone 3. It will be a direct successor to last year's ROG Phone 2 which has also been updated to Android 10. There have already been a few reports about to what to expect from the new device but a recently spotted TENAA listing has revealed even more details.

The listing shows that the ROG Phone 3 will sport a 6.59-inch Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display. The display panel will have no notch or punch-hole similar to the predecessor. This will result in distraction-free gaming experience for its core target audience. It is speculated that the phone will be powered by an overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor coupled with up to 12GB of RAM.

There are expected to be two configuration variants: 8GB RAM with 128GB storage and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. It has at least a triple camera setup aligned horizontally. It could also be a quad-camera setup but either way, the primary camera is reported to be a 64-megapixel sensor. The alleged battery capacity is 5,800mAh along with 30W fast charging support.

The ROG Phone 3 is likely to be packed with ROG's unique set of features to enhance the gaming experience on the smartphone. It further has a USB Type-C port but surprisingly, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack. It is expected to run ROG UI based on Android 10 out of the box. The official launch is tipped to happen in July which means if that is true, we are only a few weeks away.
