Motorola debuted the Edge series of smartphones about three months ago. It showcased the Edge and Edge+ smartphone where the latter is a 5G flagship device and has also been released in India. It is now reported to be working on a third phone in the lineup which will be an affordable 5G device and sit between the two existing ones.
The report is from Pricebaba, an Indian publication, citing the information shared by well-known tipster Ishan Agarwal. It mentions that the new phone will be called Motorola Edge Lite. It is said to bear the model number XT2075 and will be powered by a Qualcomm processor. The exact one is unknown but it will be either Snapdragon 765G or Snapdragon 730G. Both of these are 5G chipsets for mid-range devices but the choice will surely play a crucial role in the pricing.
Interestingly, a Motorola device with the model number XT2075-3 was spotted by Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) on FCC and European retailer websites. It listed the phone with 6GB of RAM, 128GB onboard storage, and support for 5G network connectivity. This is pretty much what is known about the phone for now.
If the report is true, the Motorola Edge Lite will surely be the cheapest 5G smartphone by the company. It is likely to have cut corners in different places to keep the price down. We will have to wait for more details to surface before passing on any further judgment about the phone.
