OnePlus is aggressively teasing the launch of its next smartphone that is being marketed as "new beginnings". This is the same phone which is rumored to be called OnePlus Z or OnePlus Nord with more recent reports inclining towards the latter. But thanks to an accidental Instagram post, OnePlus seems to have confirmed that Nord is indeed the name for the new phone.
OnePlus has set up a new Instagram account 'OnePlusLiteZThing' dedicated solely to the new smartphone series. The bio reads, "It’s been a while since we’ve done anything like this. #NewBeginnings". It has been posting teasers and puzzles on the account so far but yesterday, it posted a photo with a caption that confirmed the upcoming phone's name to be OnePlus Nord.
One of the images shows something an invitational or gift voucher card with "Nord" written over it. There is also a card that says "Here's to the first 100" suggesting it is some kind of a thank you note for the first 100 buyers. It could even be a special gift card as a token of appreciation for those first buyers. It is worth noting that the post was deleted soon after suggesting that OnePlus did not want to make it public just yet.
The OnePlus Nord launch is set for July which is not too far. We have already heard rumors that it will be a 5G compatible mid-range smartphone and offer great value for money. The pricing is speculated to be anywhere under $400 making it the cheapest OnePlus phone in the last few years.
