It was recently rumored that Samsung would also announce the Galaxy Fold Lite, an affordable version of its original Galaxy Fold at its alleged August 5 event. But a new report claims that the launch of the Galaxy Fold Lite has been postponed and it will rather arrive next year.
The delay in the launch of the affordable variant of the Galaxy Fold is unknown but it appears Samsung does not want the Galaxy Fold Lite to steal the thunder of other products launching in August.
Samsung is rumored to hold its special Galaxy Unpacked event on August 5 where it could launch the Galaxy Fold 2 and the Galaxy Flip Z 5G alongside the showstopper Galaxy Note 20. It was, however, also rumored that Samsung had one more product in the launch pipeline and that is the Galaxy Fold Lite. Now, the new report denies this fact and states the Galaxy Fold Lite is destined to launch in 2021.
The newest report does not include anything else but some previous speculations have suggested it to be coming with a Snapdragon 865 chipset. Snapdragon 865 processor is relatively a new processor and Samsung may not want to employ it an affordable foldable device too early, though the rumored cost of the phone is $900. It is possible that by next year, Samsung would be able to lower down the cost of the Galaxy Fold Lite even further in order to make it a truly affordable version of the Galaxy Fold.
It is also rumored to come with a smaller outer display than the one present on the Galaxy Fold.
The exact launch timeframe of the rumored Galaxy Fold Lite is still unknown but we are keeping our faith in it and would wait for more insights to have more clarity.
