Redmi has officially launched two new budget smartphones Redmi 9A and Redmi 9C in Malaysia. These are the newest models that will join the already available Redmi 9 in the lineup. These are also the world's first phone to feature MediaTek Helio G25 and Helio G35 processors respectively.
The Redmi 9A is the more affordable version between the two new phones. It features a 6.53-inch HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels) IPS LCD display with a small dot-like notch. Under the hood, it has the all-new MediaTek Helio G25 processor with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU and HyperEngine technology. This is claimed to deliver better gaming performance than other budget phones.
The phone has been released in a single configuration of 2GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage. There is a 13-megapixel single rear camera with an LED flash and a 5-megapixel single front camera. The whole package is powered by a 5,000mAh battery and it will run MIUI 11 based on Android 10 out of the box. The phone also has a dedicated microSD card slot with support for up to 512GB microSD cards.
If interested, the Redmi 9A will cost only RM 359 (about $84) for the sole 2GB/32GB variant. It will be available in Midnight Gray, Twilight Blue, and Peacock Green color options.
The Redmi 9C is exactly the same as the Redmi 9A except for a few differences here and there. The first major difference is that it is powered by the MediaTek Helio G35 processor which is more powerful than the G25 chipset. The graphics processor i.e. GPU remains unchanged.
The other major change is in the rear camera module which is square-shaped and houses three cameras. These include a 13-megapixel primary sensor, a 5-megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. All other specifications and features are the same as the aforementioned smartphone.
Redmi has priced at Redmi 9C at RM 429 (about $100) for the 2GB/32GB model. It also happens to have only one configuration and the same color options. Both these phones will go on sale in Malaysia sometime in July.
