Oppo has launched a new 5G smartphone powered the freshly launched MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC. The new phone lands in China with mid-range specifications. Oppo has also launched the 4G version of the A72 phone and it packs Snapdragon 665 processor.
Both the 4G and 5G versions of the Oppo A72 feature a 6.5-inch Full HD Plus LCD display but it is the 5G version only that carries a 90Hz refresh rate opposed to the non-5G model that offers only 60Hz screen.
The two versions differ in terms of camera configuration as well. The non-5G model of the Oppo A72 has a quad-camera setup at the back where the 48MP is the primary sensor, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. It has a 16MP camera on the front housed inside a punch-hole. On the contrary, the 5G model bears only triple rear cameras, where the primary sensor is 16MP, secondary is 8MP ultrawide, and the remaining includes a 2MP depth sensor. Also, on the front, the configuration differs as the device has only an 8MP shooter.
There is a big difference between the battery capacities of the non-5G Oppo A72 and the phone with 5G. The A72 bears 5,000mAh battery whereas the 5G version has 4,040mAh battery that draws power through a USB-C port at up to 18W.
Also, the Oppo A72 5G runs Android 10-based ColorOS 7.2, Dirac 2.0 sound enhancements, side-mounted fingerprint reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Oppo A72 5G comes in three colors and comes in a single 8GB RAM + 128GB storage option. It is priced at CNY1,899 ($270). It is already up for pre-orders in China through the company’s official site, with sales beginning on July 31. There is no word on the availability of the non-5G version of the Oppo A72.
