OnePlus Nord durability test shows why it is so cheap [video]

28 July 2020 0

The OnePlus Nord is one of the best value for money options for buyers interested in the mid-range segment. It also happens to be the cheapest smartphone from the brand in a very long time. If you are wondering how did OnePlus manage to keep the pricing low despite offering features like 5G connectivity, the OnePlus Nord durability test video sheds some light on the matter.

The OnePlus Nord is a device that not only looks good on the spec-sheet but also in terms of the physical appearance. It feels premium to look at but when it comes to durability, the team has certainly made some noticeable sacrifices. The first thing to take note of is that the phone is primarily made up of plastic. It has shiny frames that give metallic appeal to the device but that is simply just a coating. Only the buttons on the frames are made up of actual metal.

The display panel of the phone started to show scratches at level 6 of the Mohs scale followed by deeper grooves on level 7. This is an ideal response for the panel that we get to see on modern smartphones. However, it should be noted that the Nord display comes with a pre-installed screen protector. As for the back panel, it features glass which adds to the premium in-hand feel of the device.

While all things look good for OnePlus Nord so far, it is the bend test that showed structural issues of the device. The YouTube video host Zack Nelson was able to see the device getting bent right after he started applying the pressure. A little after, the device simply snapped and the display panel stopped working. In other words, if you are planning to buy the device, prevent the phone from getting under pressure.
