Spotify has announced that the Group Session feature on the app can now be used remotely. It means as long as you and your friends ave a premium account, there is nothing to worry about the distance between you and them. This new expansion is even more important in the current scenario of social distancing and lockdowns.
Group Sessions feature essentially allows Premium users to create and share a playlist of songs. Each individual session can have between two and five users. The best part of this feature is that all participants have access to managing the playlist. It means anyone can choose to skip, play/pause, and select tracks for the queue. One does not have to be the playlist creator for performing any of these actions.
All these tasks happen in real-time which will give a feel of having a party within the same room. It is similar to the old days when anyone could choose or change the tracks playing on a computer or music player. The only difference is that all these tasks will reflect on everyone's devices regardless of where they are on this planet.
Each Group Session has a unique link that needs to be shared for inviting people. The link can be shared using any of the preferred methods like WhatsApp, Facebook, email, SMS, or any other instant messaging app. It should be noted that the feature is currently in beta so there might be some issues.
