A few references to the Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G), and Pixel 5 have reportedly been spotted inside the new version of the Google Camera app. While digging into the new Google Camera v7.5 version, the team at 9to5Google was able to uncover direct mentions of the aforementioned devices as well as some new features of the Camera app.
First off, this is not the first time the direct mentions of the upcoming phones have been spotted. Earlier this month, the team discovered their names while an APK teardown of Google app. Their respective appearances at a new place just reconfirm the branding of the devices and as 9to5Google notes, this also confirms that there will be no Pixel 5 XL this year.
Well, moving on, the new version of the Google Camera app also suggests some new features. To start with, Google may bring Motion Blur with the new update. Motion Blue mode would produce streaking of moving objects due to long exposure shots. The sleuths were able to spot a mysterious new string that says “Lasagna.” The folks believe that this is apparently just a placeholder name for the upcoming feature Motion Blur.
The report states that previously during Google Camera 7.0 teardown, the codename was “Paneer” and it is unknown why Google changed the name now. Paneer is a name given to cottage cheese in India, and Lasagne is a kind of flat pasta and famous as an Italian dish. The information looks frivolous but just a trivia for fun.
Another feature that the team discovered is Audio zoom. The tech site reports that they have been keeping an eye on this feature since Pixel 4 days. The feature could bring the ability to “focus” your microphone in a specific direction when recording a zoomed-in video. This appears to be an interesting feature and will practically improve the worth of the comparatively affordable Pixel 4a smartphone. Now with Google Camera v7.5, the development around this feature has taken a further step to launch.
The third feature that the team observed is Flash intensity that will apparently let you adjust the camera flash. There are two references in the app to “flash_intensity.”
One more feature in the queue is Video sharing that will let you share newly recorded videos to a long list of social media and messaging apps, included Discord, Hello, WeChat, WhatsApp, Google Messages, and more.
It should be noted that such new features are spotted during the teardown of the new version of applications and it is not necessary that every spotted feature makes its way to the final release.
