The usual launch timeline for a new Huawei Mate series flagship is September and if the latest leak is anything to go by, it seems like the whole process is on track. A well-known leakster @OnLeaks have collaborated with online publications HandsetExpert and Pricebaba for sharing Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro renders respectively.
Huawei has made slight changes to the Mate 40 design as compared to the predecessor Mate 30. The biggest difference is that the notched display has been replaced with dual punch-holes. It clearly means that the upcoming phone will have dual selfie cameras but exact specifications are unknown. The display panel appears to be curved one which has become a common feature to expect from Huawei flagships.
The back panel has the same circular camera module with three camera sensors and an LED flash. The camera bump is reported to be bigger than the last year which could be disappointing for some. The technical specification of rear cameras is also missing at the moment.
The Huawei Mate 40 Pro features a design same as the standard Mate 40 but with slight differences here and there. The display panel on the phone appears to be more curved and spreading across the side frames. This is what companies have been marketing as "waterfall display". The dual punch-hole for dual selfie cameras is available on the phone as well.
The rear camera setup and design are also the same as the standard model. However, the Pro variant also has a periscope-styled telephoto camera that will result in higher zoom shots. The exact zoom level is unknown but considering the trend that we have seen so far, it should easily be up to 40x or even 50x.
This is everything that has been leaked about the upcoming Huawei Mate 40 series. As we mentioned above, details about specifications and exact features are still not available. We can expect them to become public in the coming days as we will get closer to the launch.
