UPDATE (August 6th, 2020):
Google has apparently accidentally revealed Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G pre-order date to be October 8th. The date was mentioned in the Pixel 4a launch blog post published by Google France. The particular referring to the date has now been removed but you can check it out in the screenshot below. If true, we can expect the two Pixel 5G devices to go on sale by mid-October 2020.
Original (August 4th, 2020)
Google has made Pixel 4a official and is working on announcing its 5G variant along with Pixel 5 later this year. These two phones will be part of the first-ever Pixel 5G lineup. An exact launch date or month is currently unknown but thanks to a fine print on the teaser page, we now know the markets where these phones will be unveiled and that is likely to bring disappointment for a significant number of fans.
As per the fine print, spotted by Android Central folks, Google has plans to launch Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G in only 9 markets around the world. These include the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, and Australia. It is not hard to guess that many major markets are missing from the list. These include the majority from the European region and the second-biggest smartphone market in the world India.
It should be noted that Pixel 4a will be landing in a total of 13 countries. Nine of these markets are the same which we have mentioned above and the additional four are India, Spain, Italy, and Singapore. Unfortunately, we do not have an answer for why did Google decide to skip on these four markets.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the list represents Google's plans for now. We have seen companies change plans over time and we can expect Google to do the same. If it decides to add any new markets to the list, we will make sure to let you know.
