Google is adding some interesting new features to Google Assistant specific for school kids with an aim to create a school-like experience. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, schools are being operated virtually and students are doing the maximum of their work through digital medium only.

From taking online classes of every subject, noting down the assignments, reporting to their teachers to performing many more other things, everything is now circulated around the web. But a virtual world may not be as great as conventional school life. This is why Google has come up with a new feature that would mimic the school life-experience for the students taking classes online

Google has introduced a Family Bell option in the Google Assistant that would let you create reminders throughout the day for your kids. It can remind you when it is time to start an online class, take a break, grab a snack, or go for bedtime. You just have to say “Hey Google, create a Family Bell” or tap Family Bell in your Assistant settings.

According to Google, the new feature in the Google Assistant includes suggested bells for different activities like recess, nap time, or particular subject time. You can customize this feature to alert someone in the family for an upcoming activity. For instance, the bell can remind you and people in the household that it’s time for math. Google has announced that the feature is available for users on Android and iOS phones with Smart Displays in your home. This feature is starting to roll out today in English in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and India.

Google Assistant also lets you set the sounds of a school hall to your home. The Smart Display can show school-themed visual and play familiar sounds of school like kids ruffling through their lockers.

Google also adding some fun features that students can ask Google Assistant. For instance, “Hey Google, tell me about the animal of the day.” You can also hear about a new animal every day, listen to the sound each animal makes.

Together with these features, Google is also adding the ability to broadcast to a specific room or device. Previously, broadcasting a message would send the message to every device, blanked the whole house.
