Xiaomi has reportedly started rolling out MIUI 12 update for Redmi Note 9 users in India. There has not been an official announcement about the rollout but a few users have tweeted about receiving it. If true, it has become the second phone in India to get the latest MIUI version after the Poco X2 last week.
As per shared screenshots, the Redmi Note 9 MIUI 12 update bears build number MIUI V126.96.36.199.QJOINXM. It is an over the air update which means as and when it becomes available, you will receive an update notification. The size of the update is 512MB which is small enough to be considered for download via a cellular connection.

The MIUI 12 update brings all those major changes that Xiaomi talked about while unveiling it. There is an all-new animation engine along with a new visual design. There are new animated wallpapers that Xiaomi is officially calling Super Wallpapers. Other noteworthy changes include a built-in app drawer, a new camera app user interface, and improved productivity features.
While the update notification should arrive automatically, Redmi Note 9 users can also check for it manually. It can be done by visiting Settings -> About Phone -> System Update. The device should check for the update and pull it for you if it is available for your particular unit.
