Motorola has started sending invitations for its upcoming event that is scheduled to happen on September 9. The invitation has not explicitly mentioned the name of the device but what the company has described it clearly tells what’s coming. It reads “getting ready to flip the smartphone experience once again.” This suggests a new foldable phone, possibly the Razr (2020) that probably has the same flip as its predecessor. Nevertheless, we have also seen many renders from some credible sources, suggesting it is going to preserve almost the same form factor.
The launch event date does not come as a surprise as in May, Lenovo South Africa general manager Thibault Dousson clear-cut said that a new foldable smartphone will launch as soon as September.
Past rumors have conveyed the Motorola Razr (2020) could bear the Snapdragon 765G processor and come paired with 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, and a slightly bigger battery capacity that is 2,845mAh. It may include a 48MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 sensor, and upgrade over 16MP main camera that is available on the current Motorola Razr. It may feature a larger display size of 6.7-inch and an outer display of 2.7-inch.
The renders that came from the popular leakster Evan Blass show the new Motorola foldable phone preserves the same design. The amount of the notch looks the same but the bottom of the phone looks slightly different. There is no fingerprint scanner on the bottom edge but there is a significant bump.
We are still quite at a distance from the Motorola Razr (2020) and we may get to learn about the same before the d-day comes.
