The Game Developers Conference (GDC) takes place every year in March but next year it will be held in July due to coronavirus pandemic. The conference is specifically dedicated to all things related to games and their programming, design, production, business and management, and visual arts. It’s an event for gaming enthusiasts and like-minded people who want to know about the new chapters happening in the gaming world. But, this pandemic has posed some serious challenges to every industry and the events that were to happen this year and year to come. So, how could GDC be left unaffected?
Organizers for GDC have announced the new event dates via the official website. So, GDC 2021 will now commence from July 19 to July 23 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco and follow a new structure.
The organizers have announced that GDC 2021 will be held as a hybrid event, which means the on-ground event that is the physical event will be conducted in San Francisco and they will present it to everyone as a virtual offering as well.
Organizers have also conveyed that more information on this hybrid event and guide for the exhibitors will be available in the near future.
Aside from the conference, the organizers will conduct a set of virtual GDC Master Classes in later 2020 as well. These classes will feature day-long and multi-day virtual workshops. These workshops will talk about the aspects of the game development craft.
