Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 appears in hands-on videos | UPDx2: UK pricing leaked

Update: August 28, 2020

Samsung’s official website for the UK has already revealed the Galaxy Z Fold 2 pricing as the pre-orders went live for the country. According to the listing, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is priced at £1,799 for 256GB storage. That’s £101 less than the price of the original Galaxy Fold in the UK, and this could be due to exclusion of the Galaxy Buds from the retail box. This year, Samsung might not bundle the Galaxy Buds+ or the Galaxy Buds Live with the Galaxy Z Fold 2, though the official unveiling on September 1 will disclose everything.

The BTS unboxing of the device, however, hints that Samsung is rather bundling USB-C AKG-tuned earphones. But as SamMobile points out this is the price tag of the 256GB storage variant compared to the original Galaxy Fold that came in 512GB storage.

It appears that Samsung has inadvertently made the pre-orders page live as the price tag and the Pre-order button have been removed from the page.

Update: August 25, 2020

A review video on the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has surfaced online and brought to everyone's attention by folks at SamMobile. This is not a lengthy review where you will get to see every detail of a device. The video, which is no lesser than an initial impression video, however, tries to pack almost every possible important detail in just 5 minutes. For instance, you will see the inner display of the foldable phone has a 120Hz Infinity-O display. Also, it has a larger 6.2-inch cover display compared to the 4.6-inch display of the Galaxy Fold.

The presenter also shows the Flex Mode that lets you use one side of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 as a stand and splits the UI between the two screens. This spreads like the flow on both the screens. The tiny review also shows the ability of the cover display to act as a viewfinder to capture selfies using the phone’s rear cameras. We first heard about this ability last month when Max Weinbach from XDA Developers found this amazing functionality while digging into the Z Flip 5G firmware.

At Galaxy Unpacked event last month, Samsung showcased its second-gen flagship foldable Galaxy Z Fold 2. The keynote mostly focused on the phone's design and all other important details were kept quiet. The complete launch is expected to happen at a dedicated event next month but for now, a couple of videos have surfaced showing the phone in action.

The first video is a short clip of Galaxy Z Fold 2 hands-on that has been shared on TikTok. It shows the foldable phone as well as its folding mechanism in action. The phone does not appear to be significantly different from the original Galaxy Fold but it is certainly a lot closer to the Galaxy Z Flip.

One can easily the notched display aka Infinity-O panel that Samsung opted for. There is a setting for adjusting the display refresh rate along with Flex Mode support. This is the mode that lets you use the phone by bending it at 90-degrees similar to how you open a laptop.

The second video in question has been shared on YouTube. It also shows the device from different angles with no details about specs and features. It seems like we have no other choice but to wait for the dedicated event. The only thing that we know is that the phone sports bigger displays at 7.6-inches and 6.2-inches respectively.
