Sony has unveiled a new mid-range smartphone named Xperia 8 Lite in Japan. It is a phone that arrives in the second half of 2020 with specifications of about 2018. We cannot say what is the thinking behind releasing this device but it is simply an Xperia 10 with a new pair of cameras.
The Xperia 8 Lite sports a 6-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with a big top bezel and 21:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it has the three-years-old Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. The onboard storage on the phone is 64GB which can be expanded up to 512GB using microSD cards. This is the only configuration variant of the phone.
The dual rear camera setup on the phone includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The front camera is an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture and can be found on the big top bezel that we talked about in the beginning.
The whole package is powered by a 2,870mAh battery and it will run Android 9 Pie out of the box. It also has a waterproof and dustproof rating along with a USB Type-C port and Bluetooth 5.0. The Xperia 8 Lite has been priced at JPY 29,800 i.e. about $280 for the sole 4GB/64GB variant. It will be sold in White and Black color variants starting September 1st.
