Sony has scheduled a launch event for September 17 where it may launch its new phone. The poster announcing the commencement reveals the launch event is going to be around Sony Xperia but it does not disclose the name of the phone. It is suspected that Sony will launch the Xperia 5 II at the said event. The leaks about the same started circulating just a couple of days back and gave us the best look at the device.
Now, more renders of the Sony Xperia 5 II have surfaced with their respective specifications as well. The fresh renders look no different from the one we reported earlier. You will find the same triple rear cameras setup and thin bezels strip running on the top and bottom of the phone with no side bezels whatsoever.
Coming to the specs sheet which was a mystery before, the new leak suggests the Sony Xperia 5 II could carry a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 21:9 aspect ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch sampling rate. It is going to be powered by the Snapdragon 865 processor not the Plus variant, accompanied by an 8GB RAM, 128GB of expandable storage.
The rear cameras include a 12MP primary snapper with an 82-degree field of view, a 12MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture with 3x optical zoom. The third snapper in the set is also 12MP to let you shoot ultrawide pictures. The phone is also said to support 120fps video recording in 4K HDR. There is also OIS and EIS for Video, and Optical SteadyShot, which is Sony's name for its hybrid OIS/EIS stabilization in video.
The leak suggests the Sony Xperia 5 II is going pack a 4,000mAh battery that charges through a USB-C port with PD support. A headphone jack appears to be making a comeback as well.
The Xperia product announcement as mentioned above will take place at 8 am BST/9 am CEST on September 17. We are still quite far from the said event, let’s see if the leaks have something more to bring to the table. But for now, what available to us is enough.
