Xiaomi has launched a new budget smartphone Redmi 9A in India. It is the same phone that announced globally in June and is a direct successor to last year's Redmi 8A. The phone aims to deliver better value for money for budget buyers and is being touted as the "Desh Ka Smartphone".
The Redmi 9A sports a 6.53-inch HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels) IPS LCD display with a small dot-like notch. Under the hood, it has the all-new MediaTek Helio G25 processor with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU and HyperEngine technology. This is claimed to deliver better gaming performance than other budget phones.
The phone has been released in two configurations: 2GB RAM with 32GB storage and 3GB RAM with 32GB storage. There is a 13-megapixel single rear camera with an LED flash and a 5-megapixel single front camera. The whole package is powered by a 5,000mAh battery and it will run MIUI 11 based on Android 10 out of the box. The phone also has a dedicated microSD card slot with support for up to 512GB microSD cards.
The Redmi 9A pricing has been set at INR 6,799 for the 2GB/32GB variant and INR 7,499 for the 3GB/32GB variant. It will be available in Midnight Gray, Twilight Blue, and Peacock Green color options. The sales will begin September 4th via Amazon India and Xiaomi's own online store.
