When OnePlus launched the Nord, it didn’t make the phone available in the US but did promise to bring a new mid-range phone for the country. Looks like the time is about to come when the users in the US will be able to get their hands on an affordable OnePlus phone.
According to AndroidCentral’s source, OnePlus is planning to release a new model in the Nord series in the US later this year. The exclusive report further tells that the phone is dubbed OnePlus Nord N10 5G (yes, OnePlus looks to have used the “confundus charm” here!). Well, keeping the naming aside, the report further throws light on its key specifications as well.
The OnePlus Nord N10 5G is said to be powered by Snapdragon 690 processor, which is Qualcomm’s first Snapdragon 600 series chipset with 5G connectivity. This is not the first time that we are hearing the name of this processor. Back in July, XDADevelopers dug through the latest OxygenOS 10.5 build and found out a string with "SM6350," which is an internal codename of the Snapdragon 690, hinting at a new affordable phone from OnePlus coming.
The chipset has a built-in Snapdragon X51 5G model with 5G connectivity. It is built on the 8nm node and features the latest Cortex A77 cores with Qualcomm touting a 25% increase in performance over the Snapdragon 675.
Also, the OnePlus Nord N10 5G is going to have a 6.49-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate and an FHD+ resolution. The tech publication can further confirm that the base variant of the OnePlus Nord N10 5G will include 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The report even talks about the camera department. The OnePlus Nord N10 5G is said to be holding a 64MP camera on the back, with an 8MP wide-angle lens and two 2MP auxiliary sensors.
There is no word on the launch of the OnePlus Nord N10 5G in the report but as the tech publication points out, the phone could debut shortly after the OnePlus 8T. Also, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei told Wired in an exclusive interview that the OnePlus Nord US launch is set for later this year. So, let's wait for it.
After the launch of the OnePlus Nord, OnePlus made it clear that the phone was just one of the first model in a series of mid-range phones targeted at the sub-$500 segments. So, this series will continue to get new phones in the future as well.
