Apple's smallest iPhone 12 could be called iPhone 12 Mini

22 September 2020 0

Apple's iPhone 12 lineup is expected to include four models varying in sizes, features, and obviously the pricing. The leaks suggest there will be two 6.1-inch models, one 5.4-inch model, and one 6.7-inch model. The details about the official naming of these models are not concrete yet and we now have a new leak to add to the mix.

As per the tipster @L0vetodream, the smallest iPhone 12 model will be named iPhone 12 Mini. It is the one that will sport a 5.4-inch OLED display panel. Apple has used the "Mini" suffix for iPod, iPad, and Mac variants in the past. This is the reason it is not outside the realm of possibility that we might see an iPhone 12 Mini.

The leak further claims that the affordable 6.1-inch model will be known as the iPhone 12. The expensive 6.1-inch will be called iPhone 12 Pro and the biggest 6.7-inch model will be iPhone 12 Pro Max. In other words, the "Mini" variant will be the newest addition to the lineup that will succeed iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max respectively.

An exact iPhone 12 launch date is still a mystery. Apple's recently held event was all about the new iPad models, Apple Watch Series 6, and all-new Apple Watch SE. It is speculated that there will be one more event sometime in October where we will get to meet the next-gen iPhone family.
