Google has one of the worst track records when it comes to keeping upcoming products a secret until the official launch. We have seen Pixel products leak like anything in the past and the next-gen Pixel 5 is no different. It has already surfaced in tons of leaks and rumors but the newest leak from WinFuture.de has left nothing to the imagination.
The Pixel 5 is tipped to arrive with a 6-inch Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) OLED display with a punch-hole. It will further offer Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection, 90Hz refresh rate, and HDR support. Google is said to have opted for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor which makes it a 5G-capable phone but not an Android flagship. In fact, the chipset supports only the Sub-6 5G band and not the faster mmWave band.
Interestingly, there will be 8GB of RAM available with the phone which will be a first for a Pixel smartphone. The storage is 128GB but no words on whether it is the base model or the only storage option. It will not offer microSD card support which is what we have seen in the past too.
The Pixel lineup of smartphones is known for its exceptional camera quality. This time around, the Pixel 5 will offer a 12.2-megapixel primary sensor (f/1.7 aperture) with a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor (f/2.2 aperture). There will be Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS, and EIS, and 4K video recording compatibility for the main camera. The selfie camera will be an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture and support for 1080p video recording.
The battery capacity on the phone is tipped to be 4,080mAh with support for 18W fast charging. It will ship with Android 11 and will further boast IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. Other noteworthy features will be stereo speakers, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and eSIM support for dual-SIM functionality.
Lastly, Pixel 5 is reported to start at EUR 629 with an option to choose from Black and Green colors. The official launch event will take place on September 30th where we will get to see exactly what turns out to be true.
