Spotify now lets you search for a song by its lyrics on iOS and Android

06 October 2020 0

Spotify, the music streaming application is receiving an interesting feature that would advance the way the search function works. As revealed by Spotify designer Lina on Twitter, the app on iOS and Android can now find songs by lyrics. So, this would cut down the extra step which you would otherwise take to first search for its name and then go to Spotify to play it.

Sometimes we forget the name of the song but we do remember some of its lyrics part. So, we either go to the web and search for it by typing the part of the lyrics or we go to music recognition apps like Shazam, provided if a song is already playing and get the name of it. (Interestingly, Shazam integrates Spotify as one of the music streaming options already.)

Now Spotify has enhanced its Search functionality and is letting you search for a song by lyrics directly on its app on iOS and Android. This improvement may look small but it is going to be really helpful in your music discovery journey.

Note that this feature is already available on the Apple Music service. The latter received this functionality long before, 2018 to be specific with iOS 12.
