YouTube Premium gives its subscribers early access to experimental features

07 October 2020 0

YouTube has announced an interesting gift for its Premium subscribers which when unwrapped can unlock the capability to let you test the upcoming features of the app. YouTube on its official page has announced that the Premium members of the app can try out experimental new features for a limited time. This means the subscribers can test some features before the company makes them available to everyone. They would need to try out the new features and give feedback to YouTube and help the company decide if the tested features need to be pushed to the public or not.

Google previously selected users on random bases and started beta testing some of the upcoming features. But this has now changed as the power now lies in the hands of only Premium subscribers only.

It is unknown why Google has decided to give the control only to Premium subscribers. We think this is another way of Google to entice users to get subscribed to its YouTube Premium service. It is also possible that the Premium members can add more value to this experiment because eventually, those experimented features may land to Premium service only. So, testing them with the subscribers who pay for its service would then make more sense.

On the highlighted page, there are currently only three experimental features that live right now. One is the ability to search for videos in Chrome using voice; the second is watch with sound and seek within videos without leaving the Home screen and this feature for the iOS platform only; the third feature is Filter by topic in additional languages, including Spanish, French, or Portuguese on your Home screen.

Those who have been living under the rock for some reason should know that the YouTube Premium membership offers ad-free videos, downloads, background playing, and more. If you sign up, you will get a one-month free trial and after that, the service will cost you $11.99 per month.
