Facebook Messenger now has a new logo, app gets new features

14 October 2020 0

The Facebook Messenger application has been revamped with a new logo and new features. The new rollout is part of the company's final goal of integrating Messenger with Instagram. Some of the newly added Messenger features include chat themes, selfie stickers, and vanish mode. It is hoping that users will now have more fun conversing with each other on the platform.

The team is promoting existing Messenger features like the ability to create video calling groups for connecting with multiple friends at the same time. One can create watch parties where participants can watch a particular movie or video at the same time. It is one way of feeling connected with others, especially in modern times where it is not possible to hangout as in pre-pandemic times.

Facebook says cross-app messaging support will become available in North America very soon. This support will work between Messenger and Instagram where users will be able to chat with contacts from both apps but without needing to jump between the two. In other words, Instagram messages can be replied to directly from the Messenger application and vice-versa.

The new Messenger logo features a dual-tone including Blue and Pink colors. The team says that it "reflects a shift to the future of messaging, a more dynamic, fun, and integrated way to stay connected to the people you’re close to". The revamped logo and app user experience rollout has begun and should become available for everyone anytime soon.
