Truecaller has introduced a very interesting feature on its app that will let the call receivers know why the other person is calling. The name of this feature is “Call Reason” that will tell the receivers the reason why the other person is making the call.
Truecaller touts that the service has been helping its users in knowing who is calling and now it will also tell you why someone is calling. As per Truecaller, it is the most requested feature from its users. The company had received many tweets and messages from users asking for a way that could tell them why they are receiving the call or what’s the purpose of the call.
This new addition to the Truecaller’s Caller ID will help you better understand if the other person is calling you casually to just to say 'Hi' or is there any personal reason. The receivers can thus know the urgency of any call coming to them. Currently, you can set 3 custom reasons that you think you will use most for all the calls you are going to make. Interestingly, you can also write a new reason every time you make a call.
Truecaller is going to be really helpful for the businesses calling their customers. This will not only bring ease to the customers but also to businesses that are looking to pitch to the right audience. Businesses can also set their reason for calling so that users could know that they are not wasting their time on unwanted things. Truecaller has announced that in 2021, its Priority customers and verified businesses will be able to set a Call Reason for when they call customers. Truecaller believes this will bring better engagement, ensure better pick-up rates, and thus help in making the right relationship with Truecaller users.
Truecaller has also asserted that its existing spam and scam protection feature will continue to work so as to keep those spammers away who may try to take advantage of this new feature to trap the people.
How to use Truecallers’s new Call Reason feature?
This is pretty obvious that both the parties – caller and receiver have to be using the Truecaller app on their phones. According to Truecaller, the Call Reason feature is available to users on Android. You have to install the latest version 11.30 in order to take advantage of this new feature. The feature can be turned off in the settings if you do not want to use it. The Call Reason feature will debut on iOS early next year.
In addition to the Call Reason feature, Truecaller has also upgraded its messaging experience with the ability to let users schedule their SMS message. Truecaller has also added the SMS Translate feature using Google’s machine learning-focused ML Kit to translate foreign language messages.
According to Truecaller, the translation happens locally on the phone only. If the app detects a foreign language in the message, it will show a “Translation available” label. You will then be required to press and hold on that message and select the option called Translate with Google to get it translated to your preferred language. The feature currently supports 59 languages, including 8 Indian languages.
