Samsung is reportedly pondering over the idea of shipping the Galaxy S21 series without a charger and earphones. The reports are coming from South Korea and were first spotted by SamMobile. The idea is inspired by the Apple move where iPhone 12 lineup, unveiled earlier this month, does not come with these bundled accessories.
Apple cited environmental benefits as the reason for not shipping chargers and EarPods with the retail box. It says the move will result in reduce waste with less plastic and smaller packaging. Samsung was one of the first brands to take a dig at Apple for the move but it seems like it is set to follow the same path.
The reports claim that such a move would be applicable to all the models in the Galaxy S21 lineup. If the team decides not to ditch both the accessories, it can still opt for bidding farewell just to earphones. This will not be surprising as Galaxy Note 20 users in the United States already do not get earphones with the packaging. While they can request to get a pair of AKG earphones for free by contacting customer support, this method will not be available with the next-gen lineup.
However, none of these moves have been finalized yet. Samsung is currently only discussing the idea of ditching accessories but a decision is yet to be taken. We will keep you updated as more information will become available.
