OnePlus 9 may arrive on Verizon in the US, hints OxygenOS code

30 October 2020 0

Now that the internal codename of the OnePlus 9 is apparently out, more details on the phone can now be found as well. The folks over at XDA Developers dig for some hidden gems inside the new OS versions all the time to make us aware of the incoming things. Now in a new scavenging hunt, one member at the publication has discovered something that not only confirms the existence of a new OnePlus phone but also reveals this phone will launch on the Verizon network as well.

In the latest APK for the Settings app from Open beta 3 for the OnePlus 8 series, a piece of evidence on the existence of OnePlus 9 has been found. The associated codename is “lemonadev” and it appears to be referring to the OnePlus 9 on Verizon.

The report also stresses why it thinks the codename “lemonade” belongs to the OnePlus 9 and not a phone from the new Nord series. The report states that the evidence at hand also dictates that this phone possesses the Snapdragon SM8350 or the Snapdragon 875 flagship processor from Qualcomm. So, it is highly likely that we are learning about a new flagship phone entirely and it has to be the iteration of the OnePlus 8.

We may get to know more about the device in the coming weeks or months if more such references are found across new OS versions.
