In the past few years, we have seen various Android OEMs make a switch to a cleaner and sleek custom UI for their devices. The Chinese smartphone maker Vivo is the latest to join the crowd. Vivo is all set to announce Origin OS as a replacement for Funtouch OS on November 19th.
The announcement was made on the Chinese social media platform named Weibo. Funtouch OS is the name of the currently available Vivo custom skin. It has been there since the early days of Vivo smartphones and is currently available in its 10th iteration i.e. Funtouch OS 10. It is currently based on Android 10 but with the announcement, it is set to undergo a major change.
Origin OS is currently a mystery with not many details about how it will be different from Funtouch OS. It is said that the name Origin OS essentially stands for the Original OS. It is expected that the new UI will be a lot closer to the stock Android experience. There will be a cleaner interface with probably less bloatware.
The announcement of the new Origin OS will take place during the Vivo Developer Conference (VDC) next month. It is said to debut on the next Vivo X60 lineup of smartphones that will also be made official next month. It is expected to arrive on a few of the existing devices as an upgrade as well but will have to wait for exact details.
