OnePlus has officially launched the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Edition in China. It is a limited edition smartphone that it was teasing for the last couple of weeks. The phone has been released in collaboration with CD Projekt RED, a Polish video game developer well-known for making The Witcher game series.
Cyberpunk 2077 is its upcoming video game that is one of the most anticipated titles of the year. It has been delayed on multiple occasions with the newest release date set for December 10th. It is hard to say there will not be another delay but the hype around the game is well and truly live. This is exactly what OnePlus is aiming to capitalize on with its latest limited edition smartphone launch.
The OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Edition has a slightly different camera module design than the standard model. The quad-camera alignment is unchanged but it has a bigger glass slab-like thing covering a bigger area. The extra coverage bears the game's branding and one can see "2077" written as well. The back panel further has a sparkled Gray color finish and Yellow accents here and there to match with the game's theme. The phone has both OnePlus and Cyberpunk logos on the back.
The phone will boot with a special OxygenOS skin inspired by Cyberpunk 2077. There is a special retail packaging filled with the branding of both the companies. Inside the box, buyers will get a special Cyberpunk phone case along with a bunch of game-related stickers. Unfortunately, OnePlus is shipping the package with the standard charging adapter and cable with no inspiration taken from the game.
In terms of specifications, the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Edition has no changes except that it is available in a single 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration. The phone is priced at CNY 3,999 i.e about $599 in China. It is already up for preorders via different online partners with sales starting November 11th. OnePlus is yet to reveal plans for international availability if any.
