Micromax is officially back in the Indian smartphone market with the launch of the new IN lineup. There are two phones called IN Note 1 and IN 1b that are aimed at two different audience types. Both are budget smartphones but the Note model is slightly expensive and touches the INR 10,000 price segment.
The IN lineup is promised to arrive with a stock Android experience. There is claimed to be no bloatware and no-ads, something that is a common experience among budget phones. Micromax is further assuring OS upgrades for at least two years. Since both phones run Android 10 out of the box, they should get Android 11 and Android 12. Now, let's have a look at what each of these two phones brings to the table and for what price.
As the name suggests, Micromax IN Note 1 is all about a bigger display and a bigger battery. The phone sports a 6.67-inch Full HD+ punch-hole display with a brightness of 450 nits. Under the hood, it has the MediaTek Helio G85 processor with the Mali-G52 GPU. There is 4GB of RAM available with 64GB and 128GB storage options. Both configuration variants offer microSD card support up to 512GB.
The phone features a quad-camera setup headlined by a 48-megapixel primary camera with 0.8μm pixel size. The other three cameras include a 5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. The front camera is a 16-megapixel sensor housed within the punch-hole.
The whole package is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. The phone further has a 3.5mm headphone jack, fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 5, and dual-SIM 4G VoLTE support. The Micromax IN Note 1 will cost INR 10,999 for the 4GB/64GB model and INR 12,999 for the 4GB/128GB model. It will be sold exclusively via Flipkart starting November 24th.
The Micromax IN 1b is an entry-level phone with a 6.52-inch HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels) notched display. The choice of processor is the MediaTek Helio G35 which is available with 2GB and 4GB of RAM. The buyers can further choose from 32GB and 64GB of storage options (microSD cards support up to 512GB).
The dual-camera setup on the back panel includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. There is an 8-megapixel front camera for capturing selfies and making video calls. The battery capacity on the phone is 5,000mAh which can be charged using a 10W charger bundled in the box. The phone also has a USB Type-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5, and dual-SIM 4G VoLTE support.
